Development of a brownfield site to comprise a new low-rise school building with hardstanding for pedestrian access and plateaued external play areas.
The site was proven by site investigation to be underlain by old abandoned shallow mine workings.
However, following detailed geological assessment the requirement for ground stabilisation measures was removed by adopting a reinforced concrete raft foundation solution, thus providing substantial cost savings.
