The Primark Store in Liverpool was significantly overhauled to enable trading on five floors. Low floor heights to the upper floors of the building were identified as presenting a problem if these were to be utilised as trading space as low ceilings would impair the quality of the environment.
A radical approach was proposed to overcome this problem. The existing levels 2 and 3 were fully removed from the building and a new structural floor was inserted in between the two former levels.
WML undertook the design and provided support on site whilst these structurally complicated operations were carried out to the existing steel framed, 7 storey building.
