Design of a new 50m external No Danger Area High Velocity firing range and associated accommodation block Dounreay Power Station for the Civil and Nuclear Police.
WML acted as ballistic, civil and structural consultants for the project initially undertaking a detailed feasibility study of three potential locations.
The range design included 11m high bunding to all sides of the range to not only provide ballistic protection but also acoustic attenuation as required by Planning due to the proximity to residential buildings.
The scheme also included remodelling of site access roads, extensive land drainage works and construction of a single storey support building incorporating changing, mess, teaching and office space together with secure armouries.
