St Cuthbert's Church, Kentmere, has been shortlisted under the Building Conservation section of the RICS Awards 2017. WML worked closely with John Cowards Architects to repair/replace the roof of this Grade II listed church in the Lake District. Steeped in history, the roof is believed to date back to circa 1600s and was in urgent need of repair. The roof covering needed completely replacing and significant repairs to the ancient timber roof structure were required. A detailed survey of the roof was undertaken to identify timbers in need of repair/replacement, with as much as possible of the original timber being retained. The work, part funded by the Listed Places of Worship Roof Repair Fund, was started on 7th March 2016 and the first service with the newly refurbished roof took place on 15th January 2017.
